Metadata Records for Women Writers Online
In order to support cataloging efforts at subscribing institutions, the Women Writers Project offers free metadata records for all texts published as part of Women Writers Online (WWO). Every time new texts are published in WWO, we will update this page with a metadata set consisting of records created or changed after the last publication. At that time, we will also update the set containing records for all published WWO texts.
Records
Our records are currently available in MARC and MARCXML. To download a set, CTRL-click or right-click the appropriate link below and select the "Save link as..." option.

| This update is a supplement to the release of our new Women Writers Online interface. As part of the redesign, we updated the titles and source metadata for a handful of existing WWO documents. The metadata records also now do a better job of removing non-filing characters in datafield 246. | ||
| Spring 2024 | 2024-06-17 | MARC, MARCXML |
| As part of this update, we are beginning to include the country of the original publication place, as noted in MARC datafield 534, subfield c. (So, if a text was published in London, it will be described as “London, England” rather than simply “London.”) | ||

Updates
As of July 2020, all MARC records contain a secure link in field 856 (HTTPS rather than HTTP). While this is a minor change, we encourage our subscribers to refresh their metadata with records from the "All WWO texts" set.
As of October 2015, all MARC records include control fields 001 and 003, and data field 040 now uses the MARC Organization Code for the WWP. These changes will allow us to better communicate any edits to particular records. If your organization ingested a copy of the WWO MARC records before October 2015, it may be necessary to remove and replace them all with the newest complete set. We apologize for any inconvenience, and hope you will find the records even more useful than before.
As of July 2015, the MARC records created by Brown University should be considered out-of-date. The Women Writers Project recommends that institutions remove records corresponding to this list of OCLC identifiers. Some of these records are the result of a merge by OCLC, and so the originals may need to be removed from local cataloging systems manually, using this tab-delimited text file as reference.
