Friday, February 20
Session 0, 16:00–18:00 Introduction to XML. This initial session will provide a background on XML, text encoding, and the use of the <oXygen/> editor we'll be using in class. Anyone who is unfamiliar with XML, has never done any text encoding before, or feels they need a little extra background, should attend this session. This session is optional for anyone who is already familiar with XML. Anyone who is not familiar with the <oXygen/> editor should either attend this session or do the following this simple exercise.

Session 2, 10:30–12:00 Basics of TEI Encoding and oXygen
Lunch on your own.
Session 3, 13:30–15:30 Hands-on encoding using participants own texts
Session 4, 15:45–17:00 Advanced encoding features
Sunday, February 22
Session 5, 09:00–10:30 TEI header and contextual information
Session 6, 10:45–12:00 Hands-on encoding and CSS
Lunch: pizza! Join us for pizza, etc., in the kitchen right outside the classroom.
Session 7, 13:30–16:00 Customizing the TEI; more hands-on encoding
Session 8, 16:00–17:00 XSLT and publication tools
Wrap-up, 17:00–17:30 How to participate in the TEI and find out more
